Henry Modisett
I am a 21 year old designer and student from Boulder, Colorado. I am currently studying Web Science and HCI at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I have a sincere passion for beautiful design, powerful code, and most importantly, learning new things. In the last couple years, I have worked at a couple startups, as a freelancer, and as a co-founder of two companies. I have learned a lot about product design, engineering, and how to start company. However, I feel that the most important thing I've learned is that mostly I just like to build stuff. Let's work together.
UpFront
main site
UpFront is an iPad app for restaurants to manage wait lists and reservations. I co-founded UpFront and have been responsible for all design and front end development. This includes: an iOS Safari iPad app, a native iOS App, a native Android app.
SCVNGR & LevelUp
Main Site
During the summer of 2011 I worked as a design intern at SCVNGR in Boston. I spent the majority of my time designing and developing web interfaces for the product LevelUp. In addition to doing a large amount of design work, I built everything I designed using HAML, CSS, jQuery and RoR.
Next Big Sound Mobile
Main Site
For a capstone project at school, my group was given the opportunity to work with Next Big Sound to produce a prototype of how a mobile version of their product might look and function. I designed and developed a prototype for iOS Safari.
4grids
Main Site
During my sophomore year RPI, I co-founded 4grids as a group management platform. We set out to build a powerful group management tool that allows groups to hand pick features that meet their needs. We have been testing with clubs on campus. In Spring 2012 we came in first place at the RPI Business Plan Competition with our idea.
Designing Facebook
SEE THIS
This was done in October 2011. I put together this analysis of Facebook's Web UI to demonstrate how I think about UI Design challenges. I broke down the current UI into content areas and put them back together into a full browser experience. This is mostly a user experience exercise and less about visual design changes. Click the link to see the full analysis.
Simple Energy
this site
This is one of a few projects that I did for SimpleEnergy. This project is a recruiting page aimed at students looking for internships. I did the concept, the design, and the development for this project.
